The Takahashi Method
Around 2011 or so a good friend introduced me to the Takahashi Method of presenting. Named after its inventor, Masayoshi Takahashi, this presentation method focuses on creating presentations where only a few words, and sometimes a single word, in large text are used per slide. No graphics or pictures. The words are meant to capture the key point that’s being made on each slide.
This minimalist approach to the slides means that all eyes will be on you, the presenter, so you have to be very clear and direct about what you are presenting and how you are doing so.
Embracing this restriction in my slides has over time resulted in my presenting style becoming more direct and clear, with people engaging more with me. It's a better approach to presenting.
