On Marketing and Life
- I block ads. Both at browser level and network wide in my local network.
- I block sites that request from me to disable ad-blocking. Give me a way to pay for your service and I'll gladly do so, if it removes the ads. Often, paying doesn't remove ads.
- I block cookies. All of them, unless I need them to buy something, and then I delete them.
- I block analytics, metrics, and other telemetry diarrhea.
- I block popups.
- I unshorten URLs to see what's behind those pieces of shit.
- I block tracking pixels.
- I remove UTM campaign tags.
- I block prompts to install an app or plugin.
- I block prompts to allow your site to know my location.
- I stop videos from autoplaying.
- I block and filter out all the "trusted partners" content and tracking
- I immediately unsubscribe from the mailing lists I get added automatically without my consent.
- I block entire domains that keep on trying to sell me stuff I never requested. Their email don't get to my inbox.
- I clear all my browser data, after each session.
Also,
- I use multiple services that help me remove my data from the data miners.
- I am on the do no call registry.
- I use randomly generated or masked emails for most everything.
- I use a random phone number when I can.
- I don't answer the phone unless I know the number.
- I block and report marketing SMS messages.
And, I have made use of my attorney to enforce the CAN-SPAM.
This is what marketing has done to the internet. Fuck you very much.
