Late at night, when it’s quiet, shadows move and things appear. My mind brings images, calling on memories mixed with some nonsense mixed with wishes and hopes. All those inputs play with sensory in a way that often brings despair and the need for quiet.
Trauma and hard experiences will create those ghosts for you.
I have a few of those in my past. Some from combat, some from the mountains and close calls, some from life, and some self-made. All coalescing into one messy ghost that never forgives.
But I learned to listen, and the ghost usually tells the way out. Over time it has softened and it has been easier.
It will be a long way until 100% ok, but it’s ok.
