I think it was my grandpa who told me that if you buy cheap, you buy twice. I’ve carried that with me. I try to always get the best I can afford, even if that sometimes means waiting and saving until I can buy something properly built and designed to last. The idea is that, if you buy a cheaper thing because you wanted to save some money, this often translates to that thing not being what you wanted, or breaking due to poor quality. At the end, you always end up spending more money on cheap things.

Quality also reduces the mental burden of having to research, replace, and choose again later. Buy deliberately, take care of what you own, maintain it properly, and you can often use the same thing for years instead of constantly looking for the next replacement.
